Several years ago, Sports Quest Ministry toyed with the idea of adding basketball to our soccer ministry. We even did a couple of summer camps which were well received. However, it was plain that soccer was to remain our ministry focus, so we never pursued basketball. I did purchase several basketballs for camp, but never used them. I hung them up in storage with a bunch of used soccer balls.
Several weeks ago, Sports Quest conducted a soccer clinic and I took down the bag of balls and brought them home, not realizing the basketballs were still in there. So, I took them out and just left them on my garage floor, deflated (they’d never even been pumped up). When I attended the Get Together Northwest’s September NetCaring™ lunch a request for 4 basketballs was made and I raised my hand. I knew I could donate the two I had and purchase two more for their partner ministry, Home Place of Texas.
Long story short, I went into our storage unit yesterday and rifled through a bunch of used soccer ball bags, and lo and behold, found TWO more brand new basketballs! Sports Quest owned only four basketballs and Home Place of Texas had a need for four! Four basketballs – not 40 or 400 basketballs, not 4, 40 or 400 soccer balls, but four basketballs! A need was expressed and by God’s grace we were able to meet their need. While we were in the process of blessing another ministry, we too were blessed beyond measure. Only God could orchestrate this.
The Get Together Northwest is a place where real miracles are seen and shared by real people.
